Slowly, Isaac laced his fingers between Blaine’s as he listened to him speak. Such an adorable boy. He ducked his head hide his blushing face. “I’m not perfect… Far from it, actually.” He let out quiet laugh as he looked back to the other. God, he was falling fast, wasn’t he? But could you blame him? Blaine was a total catch and Isaac knew he would treat him well. He hadn’t had that before. Hell, he never had this kind of attention. And he was going to soak it in. This was going to be the best date of his life and he was going to have the most fun he had ever had. Because Blaine was the perfect one in his eyes. “You’re the perfect one.”
Blaine felt the shift of their fingers as Isaac laced their hands together tingle it’s way up his arm. Funny how such a simple thing could dance along every nerve ending and then suddenly fill his chest with such a light, floaty feeling that he felt dizzy. Wonderfully dizzy and giddy and ready to bounce ons his heels. An urge that he couldn’t completely deny as he lightly inched up and down a few times. Though on the last lift? Maybe this was too much but he couldn’t help himself. Not when Isaac had him blushing so hard that he felt like his face was going to stay as red as it felt forever. “I guess we’ll have to make the exception for each other then. You think I’m perfect. I think you’re perfect. It works. Right?” The question was polished off with a tip toe placed peck on the corner of the boy’s mouth. Not a full kiss but a promise he meant what he said and for much more than that in the future. If Isaac wanted. An broad, shy smile was aimed up at him when Blaine pulled back and squinted like he was measuring if he went too far. “Was that okay?”
A soft laugh left Isaac’s lips as he moved his hands to cover his mouth. He thought it was adorable. It was such a cheesy date proposal and he loved it. An enthusiastic nod prefaced his speech, “Of course I’d want to do that. That’s a thousand times than coffee and you must know just how to capture my heart…” He shook his head. Autumn always had been his favourite time of the year. It wasn’t too cold and he had an excuse to wear his sweaters and scarves. “Honestly, it’s like you can read me like a book or something.” He rested a hand on top of Blaine’s as he nodded again. “Your idea is perfect.”
Fall was, and always would be, Blaine’s favorite season. Comfy sweaters, the smell of leaves in the air, warm blankets to cuddle under. Colors that took your breath away. And–well everything–about Fall was amazing. Now–he had someone to spend at least one of his favorite things to do during it with. Not just someone. Isaac. Capture his heart? "Well, if I’m being honest? Great! Because maybe that’s what I’m trying to do,” even though the edge of his lip was stuck between his teeth–Blaine managed another soft smile down at the hand now covering his. The touch gave him enough courage to let his fingertips become more of a solid presence where they sat. His thumb curved up to run a small circle against the edge of Isaac’s hand. Squinting thoughtfully–hazel eyes read across Isaac’s. “The idea’s only as perfect as the person that inspired it. So? Thanks for being that.”
Isaac shrugged, his shoulders all the way up so that they touched his ears. This ‘idea’ seemed intriguing and he really wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to be with Blaine, if he was being quite honest. He nodded almost too enthusiastically. “Yeah, I’d love that.” He moved to rest his hand on Blaine’s shoulders. “I don’t what it is, but it sounds fantastic.” He nodded again just to make sure he was clear. The muscles in his face were in pain for smiling so much, but he didn’t mind it. It was actually nice to be so happy for once.
Warmth that stemmed from Isaac’s touch against his shoulder spread in a slow, wonderful feeling wave across his back. Blaine leaned into it–smiling down at his lap so wide that his teeth were showing. “I–uh–Better than coffee that you can have any day and the Lima Bean isn’t anything special for a first date.” He licked his lips and gently patted Isaac’s knee in thought. His hand stayed there, though. Fingertips light as a feather where they touched. “You know that there’s a pumpkin patch that’s open pretty late. They have this amazing cider stand. Seriously. he stuff can’t be beat. Anywhere. I was thinking we drop by. Maybe grab something that isn’t just coffee. We could walk around? Check out their cheesy little corn maze. I don’t know,” dark brows twitched up, “Just an idea..”
Isaac shook his head. “Well, you clearly haven’t met yourself, then.” His face was that shade of pink that made it clear he was enamoured with the other boy. “I mean, look at you, with your impeccable fashion sense and the passion you have for the things you love.” He chewed on his bottom lip as he just took a moment to take in Blaine. “Y’know, I was kinda surprised you wanted to go out with me, to be honest.” He never did quite see himself as a favourable suitor.
Isaac was so incredibly sweet. Listening to him and seeing the way he blushed just as badly as Blaine knew he must have–judging the fact that his ears were still hot–was enough to make golden hazel eyes soften into nothing less than total adoration. “Thank you. I guess when you love something? Passion needs to go hand in hand with it. Or what’s the point?” A scoff–playful and topped off with a grin–rattled Blaine’s shoulders and the heat was back over the bridge of his nose again. “You’re crazy. Why wouldn’t I want to go out with you? Isaac? I think anyone would be lucky to share your company that and weirdly enough–you let that person be me. Can I pick you up a little early? I have an idea.”
Isaac scrunched up his nose at the poking and let out a soft laugh. “You’re absolutely adorable, Blaine Anderson.” He mused and poked Blaine’s nose again, just for shits and giggles. Gently, he took the other boy’s hand in his, pulled those knuckles up to meet his lips. “Honestly, the most adorable person I have ever met,” He hummed out.
The nose scrunch was one of the cutest things he’d ever seen. Isaac’s expression sent a wave of butterflies right to Blaine’s stomach. “Thank you. You’re pretty adorable yourself. Especially with the,” he mimicked Isaac’s nose scrunch and laughed. The sound quieted down when his hand was taken–a fascinated smile lingered. The butterflies were in for a Tilt-A-Whirl ride when his knuckles were kissed. His thumb grazed along the side of Isaac’s hand before reaching out to gingerly touch his chin. “Ah. Have you met you? Because you set a pretty high bar in adorable.. Not sure I can pass that.”
“Well, I hope that going on a date with me would be an upswing for you.” He shrugged a shoulder shyly. “And that’s definitely an upswing for me, too.” He winked and poked Blaine’s nose again. “And, hopefully, if all goes well, then maybe it can continue to be an upswing for both of us…”
“Definitely an upswing,” he smiled feeling the warmth in his cheeks spreading over the bridge of his nose and getting hotter. Blaine tucked his chin down as the second poke broke him into a bubbly laugh. “I hope it is for you and that it stays that way for us but– First? I have to get this out of my system.” Lifting his head–hazel eyes twinkled with a devilish glee as he inched closer. Poke! Right on the tip of Isaac’s nose! And one more poke to make them even followed.
Isaac laughed and scratched his own nose. “You can poke my nose as much as you want.” He shrugged and shoved his hands in his pockets. He raised an eyebrow at the boy. “Is there a reason you’re so baffled by my acceptance?” He wondered. After all, Isaac believed it was clear that he was interested.
“Fine. Open season on nose poking. Remember. You started this war,” he laughed lifting one foot to rest on the wall he leaned against. “Sorry. I was hoping it wasn’t that obvious.” Blaine shot an embarrassed grin up at the other boy. “Uhm. Let’s say it has nothing to do with you and more with the seriously bad stroke of luck I seem to not be able to turn around. Maybe today’s the day where things go on the upswing? If I got a date with you? That has to be the case.”
Isaac just thought Blaine was the most adorable thing right then and there. But he was also confused by the surprise look is acceptance got. “It’s a date. A greatdate.” He then proceeded to poked the other’s nose. “Just make sure you breathe during it, okay? I don’t want you to pass out in the middle of all the fun.”
“Yeah! I mean–it’s going to be.” A date! Poor Blaine looked as baffled as he was when he tuned into the fact that Isaac said yes. Owlish eyes blinked until they sparkled with laughter that had him bowing his head down at the nose poke. “Okay, okay. I’ll breathe. I promise.” What followed next was a purposefully overdone narrow eyed stare. “You poked my nose. You realize? You only get the first one free? After that? They’re fair game and I will poke back?”
“Oh–” Isaac let out a quiet laugh and ran his fingers through his hair. “I mean, I’m always free– Yes, I’d love to.” He concluded with a single nod. “And yes, breathing always works wonders.”
Blaine was trying to figure out how to salvage his dignity if this ended with a polite ‘thanks but no thank’s almost missing Isaac just said the opposite. A look of surprise crossed Blaine’s face before he let go of the breath he held. “I–Great! Great! Um? I could pick you up around six? We could stop for coffee in case it gets cold? My treat?”
“You’re talking way too fast; I have no idea what you’re trying to tell me.”
“Yeah–oh. Let me try again? I know it might be silly and totally out of left field but the school is hosting one of those Fall hayrides after the game on Saturday. I was curious. If you’re free? Would you want to go–? Sorry I said that in two seconds the first time. Remembering to breathe works wonders–I guess?”
