cosette.

Cosette didn’t expect any of them to come to her and ask her to come in. “Oh, I-I wouldn’t want to intrude on your fun. You guys seem like you’re having a great time, you have great voices. I-I wouldn’t want to be in the way.” The thing is that Cosette believed she was this bubble of sadness, that she’ll always be that. That she’ll bring sadness where ever she went, that she didn’t deserve to be happy because happiness didn’t exist in her world. She didn’t even recognize what they were singing, she was very cut off from the outside world, never listened to any musicals or any of that.

Blaine saw her hesitation and how unsure she was about coming in.  Her reaction sparked an immediate response to erase any fear whatsoever she had about entering the choir room. No one who wants to be there should feel like they didn’t belong.  She loved the music, right? That was reason alone she could stay and, at the very least, listen.  “Intrude?  You’re not going to do any such thing.  No one intrudes on glee club.”  He laughed quietly, correcting himself with a joke to ease her nerves.  “Well, with a few exceptions to people who love to come in here and cause trouble because they don’t have anything better to do.  Coach Sue being the first to come to mind.”

“Come on.”  His leaned towards the inside of the room trying to beckon her to follow with a playful grin.  “You can sit with me?  I promise.  If you liked what you heard in the hallway?  You’ll love the way they sound in here..”

Cosette had been taken away from her parents by Child Protective Services and she was sent to Ohio, far enough away where they couldn’t reach her. She was walking around the new school, wearing long sleeves and pants to cover up her scars, when she heard music coming from a room. She followed it and it was kids singing, dancing, having fun. The thing she only saw in movies. She looked into the room, the irresistible sound that they were making was amazing.

Blaine slid down off his perch on top of the piano as the song came to an end.  Breathless and beaming when Rachel wrapped her arms around him and gave him a tight hug.  There was absolutely nothing better than starting the day out with a little bit of Hairspray (in spite of Brittany asking him if he should participate and possibly make his choice of hair care product jealous) and the company of his friends.  They were about to launch into a Mercedes, Tina, Rachel version of Big, Blonde and Beautiful of when he caught a glimpse of a girl he’d never seen lingering by the door.  A squeeze to Kurt’s hand later–Blaine took a few curious steps towards her and gave her a warm, sincere smile in greeting.  “Hi.  You’re more than welcome to come in, you know,” he offered her his arm and thumbed over his shoulder with the other hand.  “I promise you’re about to be in for a treat.”
