A part
of Rachel wondered whether Blaine was just saying these things so she wouldn´t
feel worse about herself. She didn´t want to think that he was lying, but
Blaine was a kind soul who´d never actually call her a burden. She herself,
however, felt like one, because there was nothing she could do to control the
overwhelming grief she was struck by. Losing Finn had felt like the ground
being pulled from under her feet and ever since then she had been falling. Most
of the days she managed to put on a brave face and a smile, but whenever she
came home the façade crumbled rather quickly.
Having
Blaine here was helping though, and Kurt too of course, but he was just as
affected by this like Rachel was and sometimes it helped to hug him, but sometimes
it made things worse.
She
kept her eyes on the tv, focusing on the way he was playing with her hair,
slowly relaxing. The tightness in her chest was slowly dissolving and at his
words she almost smiled. “Mhm…my hair is amazing,” Rachel nodded. “Yours is
pretty nice too, though you do use a bit too much gel,” She then teased.
Alternating between the comb and his fingers running through her hair, Blaine found comfort in the cool, silky strands when their long lengths glided through it. This was better than laying in bed awake, staring at the ceiling and wondering how he was going to piece the two people he loved so deeply back together. Rachel was giving him a way out of his thoughts and she had no clue on how much he appreciated it. He knew her well enough to know she still felt like he was going too far out of his way. She couldn’t be any more wrong. He’d sit here for hours if she’d let him. You know? Between checking in to make sure Kurt was still asleep and not doing exactly what she was saving him from.
Oh God. They were going to be okay. Weren’t they? Somehow. Someway. There was going to come a time where all of them could laugh again without wondering if they should feel guilty about it? How was he supposed to go back to Lima when his heart, mind and soul was stuck right here? Where he was needed most. He made a plan to push his flight back as far as he could as soon as the sun came up.
Seeing a tiny smile from her made his heart skip a beat. That was all he needed to know he was making the right decisions. Lima could stay in Lima. It’d be waiting for him when he decided to go back and that was okay. I’ll figure out the rest later. Grinning lightly, he danced the tips of his fingers across her forehead. Then let the edge of his pointer drag down the bridge of her nose to the very end. Tap, tap. “There’s never enough gel when it comes to my hair. Or is it? Are you saying I should lay off a little, Miss Berry? I think..I mean..maybe I can?”
“It’s pretty gross.” He concedes with a nod. The work he did wasn’t pretty, but his focus was the science. It sounded rather cold, but looking at dead bodies and seeing people made it so much harder to stomach. Later, when all was done, or if he saw the victim alive or their families, then he could empathize. In general though it was all objective. “Vaseline under the nose helps. It’s really the science that I love, and helping catch killers is a pretty good perk. And it’s pretty hard to have a boring day at the office, y’know?”
As Blaine goes on Barry has to admit that he was somewhat confused about the turns Blaine’s life had apparently took but at least he was still pursuing what he loved. “I feel like that’s even more complicated than it sounds, but I’m glad you’re here. Y’know, doing performance and all that. Would’ve sucked to see you of all people give it up.” He replies honestly, smile still warm on his face. “I actually thought about applying to NYADA- congrats for making it, by the way, even though you left I know it’s not easy to get in.” Almost impossible, in fact. Anyone who was accepted was impressive. Blaine always had been talented but most high school talents didn’t make it much farther no matter what the subject was. Barry as glad for him.
“It’s just a lot to take in on a daily basis, I’m sure..” Blaine frowned thoughtfully towards the rim of his glass that a thumbnail was currently toying with the edge of. A brief glance back up at Barry and the downward curve of his lips shifted up into a smile. “I’m glad you’re doing something you enjoy. And to think..? You’re one of the good guys out there catching the bad guys before they do something horrible? I don’t think any other job could be more important. For what it’s worth? I’m really proud of you.”
Finishing off what he’s been up to all this time, Blaine arched a brow at the notion that his life sounded..well..complicated. Thinking about it? Yeah. It sort of was. But it couldn’t be anything compared to what Barry had to deal with on a day to day basis.
“Complicated pretty much sums up these years in the best way possible. But everything seems to be coming together.” About time. Blinking at the mention of NYADA he couldn’t help wondering what that would have looked like. Maybe he would have stuck it out a little easier if they had been there at the same time. What would that have looked like? Even if it was neither here nor there. It was a curious thing to think over. A proud glint lit up his eyes for a moment and his smile made the corners crinkle as it widened. Half-humbled modesty that he hasn’t lost in all these years, half-happy to hear Barry congratulate him because it meant something. More than what the other might know. “Thank you. Even if it didn’t work out? It made getting into Tisch, once I came back here, feel a hell of a lot easier and less nerve wracking that it would have been if it was my first school. So.. Have you been back to Ohio yet? Or..are you one of the ones who escaped and don’t plan on ever going back?”
// I start my new job..er..brand new career tomorrow! Thus the quiet as I was wrapping things up in the retail world to move on! I’ve been pretty nervous and focusing on a lot of things lately. I’ll have a lot more free time in the evenings and don’t have to commute two hours anymore. So! I’ll be back into a very big swing of things here roleplaying and writing in general very soon. Bear with me while I settle in. I’m going to try to post a few posts a night to catch up and as always..my discord is available for chatting/plotting/and all that jazz!

“Easy come, easy go.” “I’d catch a grenade for you.” “But you won’t do the same.” “Tell the devil I said ‘Hey’ when you get back to where you’re from.” “Yeah, you’ll smile in my face then rip the brakes out my car.” “You said you loved me – you’re a liar.” “When I compliment her she won’t believe me.” “She’s so beautiful.” “If perfect’s what you’re searching for, then just stay the same.” “We’re looking for something dumb to do.” “I think I wanna marry you.” “Who cares if we’re trashed?” “If we wake up and you wanna break up that’s cool.” “It was fun, girl.” “Never had much faith in love or miracles.” “You can make a sinner change his ways.” “I should’ve bought you flowers.” “It haunts me every time I close my eyes.” “I’ll be the first to say that I was wrong.” “I remember how much you loved to dance.” “I’m too hot!” “Don’t believe me? Just watch!’ “If you freaky, then own it!” “Don’t brag about it, come show me.”
Puck couldn’t help but smirk when he noticed Blaine’s face turn red. He sometimes forgot how open he was when it came to talking about sex. Some people, including Blaine it seemed like, were more conservative about the subject. “Yeah, I guess you’re right, dude. I’m lucky to have the friends I do and even luckier to be able to hang with you.” He looked over at the entertainment center and nodded his head. “Of course I do! I have all of the movies. I wouldn’t be a true Star Wars fan if I didn’t own them,” he joked. “Which one or ones do ya want to see?” He couldn’t help but smile at the Warbler’s idea. Having a movie marathon with the other teen was a pretty genius idea. “Pizza sounds great. Uh, as long as there isn’t any pork on the pizza, I’ll eat it. Oh, and I can pay for it if ya want. I still have some money left over from cleaning pools over the summer.”
“No, no, no,” Blaine was quick to wave off the notion of Puck doing any such thing as paying for their dinner. Grateful for the topic of pizza and movies to keep them on the path where he wasn’t embarrassing himself by earning that smirk from Puck by going red again, Blaine shook his head to cement his protest and smiled warmly at the other boy. “You’re providing the Star Wars and hosting for the night. Let me buy us dinner. And soda.” Lifting his hips off the couch to fish his wallet and phone from his back pocket, the Warbler had both in hand in seconds before settling back into the corner again. “Please tell me you love deep dish? Because I know the greatest place here thanks to Trent’s obsession with their pizza. Or is it addiction,” he grinned and corrected himself with an overdone nod, “Probably addiction.” Both shoes were kicked off as he sat his phone on the arm of his seat and googled the number for the nearest East of Chicago. “How about we start from the beginning? By the beginning, I mean the real beginning.” And..bet your lucky stars that was a test to see what Puck considered the true beginning of Star Wars. Oh, there would be much judging if Ewan McGregor’s face was on the screen in ten minutes. Pass or fail, Puck? What’ll it be?
