Words fell silent. Blaine didn’t know what he could say back to remotely explain how he felt right here, in Kurt’s arms at last. The days leading up to this very moment were a blur. From picking up Kurt at the airport to the events that escalated into them pretty much committing sacrilege in the middle of the day inside a Prius parked in a church parking lot. It felt like just this once..for the first time in months..the home he’d been standing outside begging to return to had opened up it’s doors and let him in.
I love you was on the tip of his tongue. Thank you for giving me a reason to came in the caress up Kurt’s back trailed with trembling fingers that dropped to his waist so he could lean in. Spice and sweet. The scent of shampoo and the skin he’d never forget the flavor of right underneath his nose greeted him with a heart lightening hope that maybe this time he could stay. Rachel and Finn couldn’t have picked a better song. The tip of his nose ran along the long, pale slope of Kurt’s throat until he’d tucked himself in against it.
Tonight. All he needed was tonight to prove to Kurt they could make it. That he could trust him with one more chance.
“Please,” he breathed and let the way his lips grazed the skin above Kurt’s collar say the rest.
// Why are you so cute?? Why are you so freaking !!!!!!!!!!!!!!?? I love you so much, okay? Please never change. Cause you’re absolutely perfect just the way you are. I’m keeping you forever. No if’s, and’s, or but’s. Deal with it!
a glance is cast to the doors, currently guarded by jerry. she has no idea if ezekiel will come out of his chambers. but he has to soon, because they have things to do. she understands he’s grieving, an entire community lost at the hands of the saviors. but that was all the more reason they needed to get up and fight. they couldn’t accept defeat. ❛ i don’t know kid. he’s gonna have to sooner or later. or else we’re all on our own. ❜
Blaine followed Carol’s glance to the doors that Jerry seemed to never waiver on the post he’d taken up almost immediately after the few of them returned. His teeth worried against his bottom lip as he saw the war torn and lost look on a face that was doing it’s best to remain stoic in spite of their circumstances. Jerry inspired him to be a better person. Stronger. And seeing the man so desperate to hang onto what they hadhave here made Blaine’s heart ache. “Do you think he’ll want the rest of us back out there? Or are we just going to run when they come? Because we all know they will..”
Eyes briefly left to hit the snow-covered school grounds, a soft chuckle quietly managed to escape Kurt’s lips despite their predicament; typically pale rosy cheeks flushed a distinct shade of reddishpink under the chilly winter sun as he quickly cast another glance back into the other male’s direction. Every inch of him had longed to just stay inside. Be comfortable. Warm, cozy; preferably with some hot chocolate or a nice blanket. Instead, he had found himself outside in the cold. Limbs freezing, holding handswith his best friend as they battled the icy paths together on their quest for coffee. A feat strangely romantic, had it not been for the fact he might have slipped a couple of times in the process — their fingers laced permanently together if not for the increasingly low temperatures. It was probably silly to think of it as something more. Something else. Something he could find himself getting used to. And yet, still his heart fluttered wildly in his chest at the prospect. Always hopeful, never unwavering. His voice out of breath as he uttered his next sentence.
❛ Does it match my skin tone? ❜
If only he wasn’t so dreamy…
What good was a fresh dusting of snow on top of what’d already fallen yesterday if he couldn’t talk his best friend into coming along for coffee so they could explore the grounds? Dalton Academy was and always would be beautifully breathtaking no matter what season. It’s impeccably kept grounds were a sanctuary that the boys here were always gratefully privy to. However. When it snowed? The academy’s own brand of magic went beyond words to properly describe it. You have to see it to believe it. And that is precisely why Blaine invited Kurt along out. Surprised laughs from each slip never once were enough to risk him letting go of Kurt’s hand. His grip too strong and now oh-so-familiar. Strange how the lead Warbler never truly seemed to connect or read too much into the reasons why Kurt’s hand was the one he always sought out. From after thirty seconds into them meeting until right this very second? Their hands always seemed to find one another. Without a thought or a moment’s hesitation. He wasn’t the type to casually hold hands with just anyone. Not really. Not like he was with the boy beside him, cheeks the same shade as his nose as he met Blaine’s eyes. Blaine smiled back, hazel bright as he darted his gaze over Kurt’s and used their hands to pull them to a stop so he could pretend to be staring with a squinted, serious to the point of an artisan’s critique of a Botticelli painting trying to catch minute details on the cherubic dusting of color across the boys on the canvas’ cheeks. Closer still and the warm puffs of gray their breath made mixed together and he playfully hummed, lips pursed into an engrossed pout.
“I think that,” his heart felt so warm so content and he felt his own face warm with the happy simplicity of the moment, “it’s pretty close. Yours is prettier though.” Such a thing to say to a friend but that pretty much sums up how Blaine Anderson seemed to be wired when it came to Kurt Hummel.
The tip of his thumb pressed to Kurt’s nose as a snowflake fell onto it’s delicate tip and Blaine pulled the touch away trying to prove his point. “See?” Though what was there was only a tiny droplet of water by the time he became still. “Ah.. Well. Worth a try. I guess you’ll just have to trust me on that.” A brow quirked up and he squeezed Kurt’s hand gently. “Regret coming out? It might be freezing but it’s worth it if only for the view alone.” Thing was? Blaine wasn’t looking at the grounds anymore. All he saw was blue and green and dozens of flecked variations of each. “Snowflakes on your nose and all,” he grinned in an attempt to charm Kurt into not cursing him for dragging him out in the cold if it was a one-sided, Anderson only love affair with their walk.
This was probably the first time Rachel wasn´t really paying any attention to the movie they were watching, but she was more focused on Blaine and the warmth she felt as he held her. For the first time she also didn´t feel like crying when someone was holding her. Maybe it was because he wasn´t telling her that things would be alright eventually, but because he was simply HOLDING her, without expecting anything of her. He was just making conversation and she could feel herself relaxing slowly in his arms.
Kurt really was a lucky guy, but then again she had known that from the moment she had met Blaine. He had always been fantastic and sometimes even Rachel forgot that he was probably suffering as much as them. With his fingertips against her cheeks she blinked up at him, lips curving into a smile. “I´m not leaving you hanging, no way.” She then smiled. “I could never do that.”
“And it always depends. Some people need coffee before doing yoga and some need it afterwards. Some do both,” She chuckled, leaning into his touch. “I usually get coffee afterwards. And subways are something you get used to. Just stick to my side and you´ll be fine.” Rachel then added, letting out a content sigh. “And I´d never want to get rid of you, why would I even try? You´re the best thing that happened to me,” She then mumbled, suppressing a yawn.
The corners of Blaine’s eyes crinkled with the genuine smile hearing Rachel say he was the best thing that happened to her brought. Honestly, having Rachel in his life was pretty high up on his list of bests too. Regardless of how quirky she could be at times. Others, downright crazy demanding.. She was one of the people dearest and nearest to his heart. No amount of temper tantrums or time or distance could dampen that. As far as Blaine was concerned? She was stuck with him for the rest of her life. Cause he couldn’t imagine the rest of his without her in it.
After recovering from a yawn that watching her do the same instinctively drew out of him, Blaine nuzzled down against her forehead and let his eyes fall shut.
“Just don’t ever give up being you. No matter what. You are perfect, Rachel Berry. Never forget that,” he whispered, “No get some rest. I’ll stay here for a little while longer. I’ll make sure you’re okay. Promise.” Wrapping her up in his arms and tangling their legs together sealed the deal.
Unseen above her head where his chin rested lightly so they could fit together just right, Blaine rolled his eyes towards the ceiling and repeated the same mantra in his head that he had from the night he got the phone that he needed to get to the Hudson-Hummel household as fast as possible.
Burt’s voice was broken, he wouldn’t answer any of Blaine’s questions. The panic that swelled up inside his chest as he frantically ran out of the house in his pajamas and a jacket pushed the pedal to the bottom of his floorboards the longer he talked to him on the phone in his car. Only to walk in on the most devastating sobs from a grown man and woman he’d ever heard. That night was the first he begged for forgiveness of all the hurt he forced Finn to help Kurt through. For the disappointment that he saw in Finn’s eyes twice by his choices. He swore that he’d be right here. Where he was…and make everything as okay as he could. He was sorry. “I love you, Rachel.. Kurt loves you, too.” Hopefully his fiance’ would stay asleep a bit longer.
plot bunny. two strangers meet at a motel in the middle of nowhere. everyone who’s checked in is there for different reasons. there’s a woman who’s escaped an old lover. you heard someone say they’ve been traveling across the country and needed to stop and take a break for a few days. the man at the front desk doesn’t say much, but you swear you haven’t seen him move from since your checked in. still the vacancy lights and mysteriously empty pool have a way of keeping everyone there, including you. maybe it’s that – or maybe it’s the people.
( sms : blaine ) I definitely wouldn’t rule out the possibility. ( sms : blaine ) Did you tell her about the elves, too? ( sms : blaine ) Oh, God. Please tell me you did not expose poor innocent Rudolph.
( mssg » kurt | sent ) But she’s tiny and has a ten second attention span most of the time. Do you really think she will?? ( mssg » kurt | sent ) No… I didn’t give up the elves! Or Rudolph! ( mssg » kurt | sent ) What if it’s a chain effect though? What if I put one seed of doubt in her head and it turns into a whole…tree of ‘I can never trust my Daddy again’??
