Tina’s last day in New York City.  How did the time go by so fast?  Wasn’t it two hours ago when she got in?  Nope.  It’d been days and now she was due to go back to Brown later that evening and Blaine was determined to make her last hours here something to remember.  He had the day packed full until it was time to go to the airport.  Groggily walking through the loft after a way-too-early alarm–Blaine stopped beside the couch and tilted his head.  Could she fit herself any tighter against the back?  Least she looked comfortable?  Listening to her steady breathing made his eyes want to close again.  Heavy limbs pulled him closer.

Breakfast could get started a little later–yeah?   Kurt wouldn’t be ready to wake up for an hour or longer. Woe be to anyone who decided to interrupt his sleep after going an entire night without. Snuggling up to her was easy.  Big Spoon?  Thy name is Blaine Anderson!  The bridge of his nose fit against the back of her head and he didn’t even mind all the hair.  Sort of hard to mind much when this was so comfy and she was so warm.  “I’m going to miss you,” he mumbled quietly.  God, would he.  This was always the worst about reconnecting with the friends who drifted off.  That sad tug in his heart when he knew it was time to say goodbye felt awful. Hours, right?  They had hours. Shutting that thought away–Blaine held her a bit closer and let himself doze off.

What did he get himself into?

“I’m not sure about this.  I mean.  I know I agreed to an Elliott make-over before we went out tonight.  You won the bet fair and square,” Blaine palmed over his mouth staring down at the vanity inside their bathroom.  Clad in black and grey from head-to-toe (unless you were counting the delicate embellishments of silver added into the mix by Elliott’s careful hands), he was dressed the part and barely recognized himself in the mirror when he passed by it.  Not in a wholly bad way.  Only.  You know..  Wow?  Wow was a good word!  Definitely..  Wow!

“….That’s a lot of eyeliner.”

Coming home from his second day at a new school in a new state to a new house to live his new life felt surreal.  Blaine’s world changed so fast after what happened at his last school that his head was still spinning trying to let it all absorb.  Most of the time he felt like he was constantly waking up from a dream and trying to get his bearings.  On repeat.  For over a week or more now.  His mother tried to reassure him he’d settle, that this was for the best.  But he wasn’t so sure.

When he saw a blond boy sitting on the top porch stair, he stopped dead in his tracks.  A crease brought on by curiosity ran between his eyebrows and across his forehead.  “Hi,” that same confusion was apparent in the bewildered tone of his voice and smile that slowly appeared as he stepped towards the stranger.  “I don’t think we’ve met..  I’m Blaine.  Can I help you?”

Startled, he almost dropped the hat he was holding in hand.

“There’s nothing wrong with it! It just doesn’t… Suit me..” Blue eyes cast a glance towards the red vest laying on one of the chairs, waiting to be put on. “A-And besides, it’s a- a pitch for a show! Not some r-romantic d-date.”

Christian chuckled nervously before adding, “the fact that the pitch is being brought to a-.. a b-beautiful woman doesn’t count.” He was way over his head.

Blaine fumbled to catch the hat but Christian managed to hang onto it and saved the day!  There was no way they could afford to replace it.  Considering it was a prop for said show they were pitching tonight?  Crushing it on the floor would have been a disaster.

Christian was right.  The entire costume suit screamed everything that they were against but!  “Necessary evil, Christian!  Think of it as fitting in just so we can stand out in the long run??”

His arm jutted out, hand gesturing towards the entire ensemble they were forcing him to wear just to have their voices heard.  He was their only hope!  “They won’t give you a second glace without it.  Come on?  You can do this!  We’ll..um..be there?  Just, you know, in the background!”

Who Is Eli C.?
pianokeysandbowties headcanon number: who knows by now!

Okies!  Strap yourselves in!  I’m gonna put this on my blog because it’s been in my head for a very long time now and I just shared it with a friend.  I really should jot this down to keep instead of typing it out every time!

So!  Blaine was the only out kid at Central High School besides one other boy. I imagine that Blaine was the one that really really pushed for them to go to the dance together to be out and proud and be themselves.  The boy agreed, reluctantly at first, and then we all know what happened afterwards.  Blaine felt completely humiliated and guilty for being the one to push so hard for considering that the other boy’s concerns actually did happen. (Also why he is so freaking hesitant about Kurt pushing so hard for prom and tells him what happened.)

In the aftermath, the boy’s parents made him cut all ties with Blaine. He wasn’t allowed to contact him, he wasn’t allowed to see him.  Blaine was gone to another school and the boy’s parents wanted Blaine out of their son’s life.  Blaine’s parents went for it because Blaine’s dad didn’t approve of them going to the dance together in the first place.  The fact that his son ignored his wishes and did it anyway infuriated him.

Blaine and the other boy stopped talking and ended all contact. But!  Blaine never had that closure because of it.   He never really got to apologize and say he was sorry and get forgiveness. Even though he was the one hurt the most because he was so much smaller, the boy got messed up pretty bad too.  Blaine never forgave himself for that and it’s a guilt that he carried to Dalton and beyond.

Jump to a couple years later!  And this guy friends him on facebook, without a picture, without anything but this name that Blaine swears is the middle name of the guy he went to the dance with.   Or maybe it wasn’t?  Its been a couple years..maybe not?  When they were talking, Blaine was saying how lonely he was, how he felt abandoned by Kurt and that Kurt didn’t want him anymore because New York City was his life.  The guy was like “want to come over” etc.  Almost kinda catfishing him but not?  Like not telling him who he was?  But not hiding it either?  Except that one big hint of his middle name Eli (which he goes by at his new school because he, too, ended up transferring to South a few weeks after Blaine left for Dalton), sort for Elijah.  It was a wish on the guy’s part that Blaine might catch on.

When Blaine shows up, he finds out who it is and things go from there.  Eli listens.  Eli tells him he’s always been good enough.  Blaine lets himself be vulnerable for just once and this guy who’s a stranger now but used to be a friend comforts him and it spirals out of control. And that whole “is it cause I don’t look like my picture?” was Eli just trying to make Blaine feel better.  Obviously, it was a joke.  The icon was a freaking lighthouse!   Eli knew how messed up and regretful Blaine was that he just cheated on Kurt.   It’d take a blind man not to see that.

Cause I never thought Blaine would EVER cheat on Kurt.  Especially not with a stranger.  Especially not after being torn up over Kurt just getting flirty texts from someone.  But this is the only way I can rationalize he would.  He’d have had to know the guy but it could never be someone as close to him as Sebastian.  Cause Sebastian would be way too devastated if he went back to Kurt and he knew he wanted to.

Sebastian is far too important to Blaine and Blaine is far too important to Sebastian for that.  Sebastian would know that Blaine would be so filled with guilt that he’d lose the one thing he does have with him and that’s friendship.  Guilt would settle in and Blaine might never see Sebastian again.  There’s no way Sebastian would chance that for a hook up.  He’d wait.  Maybe someday..it’d be more than a hook up.  But not any time soon.

But Eli…  They weren’t close.  Not anymore. Then they saw one another that one last time.  Eli caved for Blaine, Blaine took that comfort.  And the rest, they say, is history!

“Hey, Brittany?  Can I snag a second of your time?  It’s about the new glee club assignment.  Don’t you think they’re all getting a little repetitive?  I have an idea to shake things up a bit.  Thing is?  I need you and Mike to pull it off.  Are you in?  I’ll tell you all about it over lunch?”

@daffydancer

There was no better time to show off Central Park to one of the Glee Club’s latest additions to New York City than when a fresh blanket of snow put a soft white blanket over the trees, statues, bridges and fountains that lined the twisting paths through one of Blaine’s favorite places to be.  Mike had yet to experience the scenery fully, as far as Blaine knew, and that was –or should be– a crime.  Why not steal a day when classes were cancelled and neither one of them had many plans to check that item off Mike’s too-busy-to-really-enjoy-the-city first few months of getting settled into NYADA’s and living in New York City’s routine?

Standing at the gate he’d texted his friend to meet him at, a thermos of warm apple cider in each hand, Blaine used the tip of a black boot to mess around with the clumps of snow at his feet.  A brow lifted up in his concentrated attempt to Etch-A-Sketch away a circular pattern by swiping his foot back and forth over it to flatten out the sparkling powder underneath his sole.  He’d barely begun a careful crescent shape when a shadow ghosted itself into view.  “Sorry, waiting for–,” he looked up ready to excuse himself if he was blocking someone and his smile went from apologetic to brilliantly delighted.  Mike!  “Waiting for you!  Hey!  Hope you like cider,” he lifted the silver and black beverage container in his right hand to give it a light ‘look here!’ shake before holding it out to him. “Make the walk so much better.  Ready for the view of a lifetime?”

@michaelrobertchangjunior

The Lima Bean was filling up with students grabbing some coffee before they went home or hanging out with their friends to gossip about the day.  Blaine entered alone, however.  Leather satchel slung over his shoulder and his phone gripped in one hand.  Hazel gaze drifted from table to table trying to pick out the girl who he barely knew until they were assigned to work on a project in Photography together.  Valerie.  That was her name.  She seemed nice enough and even if they were strangers?  Being assigned a partnership with some of the kids in that class would have made him want to pull his hair out by the end of one day.  McKinley did seem to have it’s fair share of …  be nice.

Instead of spending their after school hours in school, Blaine suggested they meet here to organize things and get to know one another.  He’d grabbed his homework and hurried to the cafe as soon as the last bell rang.  By the looks of it?  He’d beat her here.  Grabbing one of the last empty places to sit, he staked their claim on it by sitting down and setting his bag on the tabletop.  There.  They had their spot.  The former Warbler busied himself by firing off a couple texts to his boyfriend while he waited for his new partner to show up.

@brcveandvaaliant

Uh, yeah, okay. That wasn’t creepy at allllll to hear incoherent mumbling coming from the couch he just tiptoed past trying not to wake Finn up.  It broke the quiet he was doing his best to keep with an odd string of barely audible words.  Blaine wasn’t sure he could pick out a single English one in the bunch.  All his efforts to keep quiet must have failed anyway.  Judging that the boy strung out with limbs everywhere cracked one eye open in his direction.

Stepping backwards until he could lean against the doorframe between the kitchen and the living room and crossed his arms over his chest.  One hand lifted a few inches to fan an ‘hello’ wave.  Blaine kept his voice low as to not wake his boyfriend still sound asleep upstairs.  “Um.  Good morning to you, too, Finn.  Sorry.  I was trying to sneak to the kitchen.  Kurt asked me over since your parents are in Washington.”

“I figured I’d surprise him with breakfast.  Sorry if I woke you up..  Weird dream?” And then Blaine couldn’t hold back the chuckle that lit up his eyes.  He watched the other boy joining the land of the living with a warm smile that stayed even after the laughter faded.  “I think you might’ve just invented your own language a minute ago.  Hope you’re hungry..“
