✨ I think your portrayal is on point, but it also intimidates me
🎉 We’ve been mutuals for ages, and this makes me so happy!
💌 I just think you’re amazing

// Bb!  You are forever my Fox and the sweetest scariest person I know.  I’m so glad you love my Blainers but we have been through way too many three am phone calls for you to be intimidated about anything surrounding my dumb, goofy self.  Including my portrayal of this nerd.  I love you to bits.  Pls never change.  Like.  Ever.

If you asked him how he managed to find himself flipped over (or how anyone could be flipped over inside a freaking Prius and not break something–wow these cars really are roomier on the inside..) on his back with the leather squeaking against his shoes before he slammed both into the car door for footing, Blaine would..

Okay.  Blaine wouldn’t be capable of answering a damn thing in his current situation.  And the dumb-struck-in-love former Warbler couldn’t possibly be any happier about his “predicament” either.  Even if they’d broken new levels of sacrilege (seeing as how they were in a church parking lot in broad daylight)–Blaine was on cloud nine.  Halo broken, possibly forever and still yet, doing mental cartwheels through the gates of heaven with one touch of panicked hands that seemed like they couldn’t get enough of him.

He wasn’t the first one to make the move.  Kurt was.  That fact alone made him drunk with happiness. As Blaine curled his fingers in the wisps of hair touching pale skin behind the shell of Kurt’s ear, body shifted closer to pull him back for a second kiss? Kurt’s fingers snatched his wrist and before he knew it, his arm was pinned behind his back.  The familiar weight of Kurt’s body was pressed to his and with a lift and a half spin?  He was on his back, lifting up to press their mouths together in a needful, desperate kiss that he’d been holding back indulging himself in again since, well, yesterday.  But no one knew that part just yet.

Blaine wasn’t blind, he was patient, and perhaps too kind for his own good. Keeping his walls up, afraid to speak out, to reach out, it was causing more harm than good on the both of them. And while Barry would like to believe otherwise, had been believing it– now was the turning point. If he continued, he’d lose the other just as he lost his previous relationships. Because he wouldn’t truly open up. And at this point he needed to, the cup was close to overflowing, and ready to spill. The fact that Blaine seemed to need convince about his words, it really drove home what Barry had been causing to their relationship. He’s pushed and pushed and push— till finally it was ready to break. But at least this time, this time the speedster wasn’t going to let it happen. There’s enough people in his life that he’s lost, due to death, or of his own making. His boyfriend was not going to be added to list. Not if he can help. Not this time. A promise was a deadly thing, if he broke it, could they survive it? It’s best to not find out. Barry nods, face solemn was he closes the distance between them. Hands grabbing the other’s tightly in his own, “I promise, I’m going to try. I’m not… I’m not going to be running away from my problems anymore. You deserve better than that. We both do.”

Blaine couldn’t shake the wary look that flattened his expression.  Funny how over the months it’d changed so much.  From where he was when he first connect the puzzle together with Barry and they realized they’d found one another to now?  The gleaming eyed, love struck person he was had dimmed. His smile long since faded. Hazel eyes now weighted with caution and exhaustion from running after a soulmate that just…didn’t seem to want him back.  His dreams of how this would all happen were long since broken.  Now, it was just better to be distanced in spite of everything inside of him pulling him to the man taking his hands trying to reassure him, once and for all, that he was going to try.  Try.  A small, lost smile echoed the word.  Try.  Still left room for the chance to say it failed.  Or Barry couldn’t.  God, he wanted to believe it.

Running his tongue along his bottom lip before biting onto it–Blaine softly squeezed both of Barry’s palms and let his chin tuck itself towards his collar.  “Don’t want to be a problem you’re not running away from.  I don’t want to be any sort of problem.”  Bittersweet hope?  Learning what that felt like was a lesson he hadn’t expected.  Ever.  “But thank you for promising you’ll try.  I swear I’m not going to push you anymore.  Wherever you want this to go is where it’ll go.  Okay?”  That’s all he could do.  With his heart, Barry always held the whole deck.  Blaine could only stand there and watch where the cards were going to fall this time.

Will knew that they did everything they could, if not more. That was what got to Will even more. He looked at Blaine. He could see how much Blaine was trying to stay strong. He knew because he was feeling exactly the same way.

Will kept his eyes on him and noticed the slip. He nodded as he listened to Blaine. “Thank you.” He said. Will tilted his head to the side a little. “It wasn’t just me.” Will told him. Some of this was Finn as well. He looked back at the others. Tina noticed him and came over to him, hugging him. Of course, she knew. She had noticed on stage just before the results were announced and grabbed a hold of his hand.

“Yeah.  You’re right.  We all worked hard.  Just.  Thanks.  For everything.”  Blaine smiled awkwardly as Tina came over, his face showing concern for her as he looked the girl over.  Letting her have a moment with their teacher, Blaine stepped away after squeezing Tina’s shoulder and giving her a peck on the cheek.  Sam was in his sights.  On lockdown.  Worry filling his eyes when he saw his best friend’s shoulders slumped like all his air was vacuumed out.

“I’m gonna go change.  Make us some dinner reservations.  Meet me back at the hotel?  Or you can come along.”  Not wanting to intrude on Sam’s space if he needed a minute–Blaine stepped backwards and shot Mister Schuester another glance accompanied by a twitch of his lips that was supposed to be a smile and didn’t quite make it.  This should have gone so different.

“Apparently like 20 years ago, some girl slaughtered her family in the basement.” – sam

Alright.  Spending Spring Break of their Senior Year on a road trip to get away from Westerville and Lima and see something new had a different meaning to Blaine than it did Sam.  A road trip to Hershey Park.  Maybe over to Chicago to play tourists?  You know?  That sort of road trip.  With hotels that had running water and electricity.  Sam, on the other hand?  Sam suggested they do something he’d been wanting to do forever.  Since they spent a weekend creeping themselves out binge watching youtube videos of guys sneaking into abandoned buildings or places they claimed to be haunted.

A map already pinpointed with places he wanted to go see, ones he researched for weeks was shoved into Blaine’s hand one day at lunch.  Sam couldn’t stand still as he threw his sales pitch, weight shifting from side to side and his eyes lit up with a fire that Blaine never could resist being drawn towards.  Sam’s excitement about anything was always infectious.  By the end of his spiel–Blaine was expecting him to be bouncing off the walls and furniture if he didn’t calm down.  Who could say no to that?  No one.  Especially not him.  Within minutes of stuttered pleas and a drawn out ‘but rollercoasters’ that Sam just rolled his eyes at because nothing Blaine countered with could compare to ‘Ghost towns, Blaine.  Ghost.  TOWNS.’  Blaine tossed in the towel and agreed right as a list of supplies they needed was shoved in his hand and Sam zipped off, a human streak of lightning filled with adrenaline and anticipation.

Good luck to Ms. Peterson.  Sam’s American History class was in for a treat.

Okay, that was the beginning.  Now, let’s skip ahead to the present.  Cause having a moment where he regretted ever saying yes to Sam in his life wasn’t something Blaine pictured until the words ‘girl slaughtered her family in the basement’ hit his ears.  Dust billowed around his shoes as the former Warbler came to a sudden stop.  His camera fell to hit against his chest as his hand pressed flat against a wall covered in yellowed, dirty wallpaper that once had to be cream with mauve colored roses.  “Woah. Woah.  Hold up.  What did you just say?”

“That’s something you tell someone before they’re..you know?  On the steps leading down to the basement in question, SAM.”  A bloodbath happened down there?  In the creepy, horror movie basement they could barely see into from the kitchen?  “We’ve been to three different towns so far.  I’ll admit, the school wasn’t the most awesome of places I’ve ever been in the ‘Wow.  I really don’t want to die at the hands of a weird family of hillbillies that made this their town and have been following us this entire time.’ list.  This, though?  This tops the cake.”  Not that he had anything else on this “list”.  But that’s besides the point!  Springing something that heavy right out of the blue?  Not cool.

A half-hearted glare was shot up at him from the corner of Blaine’s eyes as he shook his head and clicked on his flashlight.  “You owe me big time for this one.”  Here comes the under the breath grumble aimed at Sam’s back, complete with smirking pout.  “Ifwedon’tdie.”

jeff.

Jeff had kept his eyes on Blaine. He’d watched the way the hot air came out in clouds from his mouth. He’d smiled, the air around them was cold, but the excitement seemed to be amped up to the max as the boys had shouted from twenty on down. He’d watched Blaine’s excitement grow on his face. Jeff had never enjoyed the holidays like this before, well he had spent it with the Warblers previously, but like this really genuinely watching someone live and enjoy themselves was more to Jeff than just another wish at the new years and celebrating with his homies.

Coming back from his thoughts he heard his roommate’s voice call down the time, his own voice seemed to follow suit joining the group’s countdown til zero his own body suddenly not cold, but warm and full of energy and excitement for the new year.

“four, three…” his words seemed to take forever to get out of his mouth and time seemed to slow for the moment that they spent up there on the roof of their dorm on that clear night.

Blaine was beyond less than prepared for what happened.  In the last several seconds of shouted numbers nearly all the Warblers seemed to fold in on each other.  Shoulder to shoulder and elbow to elbow as united voices yelled out the last second of the year in unison.  Then, he could’ve sworn for two seconds, his feet left the ground as a pair of hands pulled him this way while an arm hooked around his waist tugged him in another direction.  Wes’s arm slung over Jeff’s shoulders and with stumbles and skips to catch up, the boys redefined the meaning of New Years Eve Group Hug.

Puffs of grey white breath burst in the darkness of the group, Blaine had one arm around Jeff’s back and another wrapped around Trent’s shoulders as the sky lit up in the distance and the muffled noises of fireworks cut through the chilly Ohio night’s air.

“Happy New Year, Jeff.”  In all the chaos of some darting off to see the show while others didn’t seem too ready to let the person they were holding onto go just yet, Blaine’s attention turned back to the tall blond beside him.  Heels lifted off the ground and a kiss was pressed to his cheek and then Blaine was gone, pulled away by Trent to ‘Catch something he didn’t want to miss!’.
