Dave smiled to himself, glad to have Blaine coming over for the night. If there was one thing that he enjoyed, it was spending time with Blaine, even more so, being able to spend the night with Blaine. He waited a moment, not wanting to look dumb by automatically contacting the other, before hitting Blaine’s number. He listened to it ring as he waited for Blaine to answer. He held his breath. For some reason, he was always really excited to hear the other speaking to him. Maybe he was a little two dependent on the idea of the two of them, maybe it excited him way too much. As the line picked up, he perked up. “Hey Blaine,” he beamed, despite knowing the other couldn’t actually see him.
Blaine drove down the highway towards the small length of road lined in tall trees and tiny roadside pull offs that separated him from Lima. Making this drive–for whatever reason he couldn’t say no to and there were few–
since he returned from New York City
was always bittersweet. Twists and turns of road became memories of times where this drive felt like an agonizing eternity between him and his reason for being on it in the first place. And remembering that time hurt. That was–until Dave. Dave made making the drive become a thrill again–a different kind that years molded it into–but one that made Blaine’s happy grin impossible to erase and the tune on the radio sang to rather than shut off to complete silence. Dave brought the stars back into a line of pavement dark with could haves and should haves and made it alive with wills and i can’t waits. A press to the screen brought the sound of Dave’s voice into the car. “Dave? Hey!” Blaine’s excited voice greeted his boyfriend. He was beaming, too. “I’m about thirty minutes out give or take. What are you up to?”
