Kinda Fun

Kurt could feel Blaine’s presence before he spoke.  He’s fairly certain that it had less to do with instincts and more with being the only one in the room before then, and sensing another person’s mood suddenly.

He smiled softly over his shoulder, eyes on Blaine.  It was only for a few seconds really, but he was still taking in the company.  Kurt turned back to the stove before speaking.  “Good.  Eggs are almost done and there’s some waffles on the counter already.  And more batter but I figured I’d wait for you first.”  A moment later he was turning off the stove and scraping the eggs onto plate and setting it aside.

Kurt turned and leaned back on the counter, hands behind him, fingers curling around the edge.  This was unfamiliar territory, but he was happier.  Maybe in a more nostalgic than simple way, but happy none the less.

Blaine pushed off the corner crossing his arms loosely as he walked to the small kitchen nook while watching Kurt fill the plate with eggs. A rumble in his stomach pulled his attention towards the plate of waffles. “They look amazing.  Thank you.  You really went all out and the aspirin is working wonders.  I guess I can regret last night a little less than I did a half an hour ago,” he grinned guiltily at Kurt now that he’d turned to lean on the counter not more than a few feet from where Blaine stood.

“Most of it anyway..  I’m sorry about the texts.  Unfortunately, I wasn’t drunk enough to erase those out of my brain,” he laughed because that was the easiest thing to do, eyes pinched together and teeth flashing bright white.  An embarrassed at himself sort of chuckle that was meant to keep the mood light and Kurt looking as happy as he did right then.

Palming over the back of his neck–Blaine swung his hand towards the counter and then let the momentum carry him into motion.  The space between them was gone.  Blaine stopped beside Kurt looking away and down at the plates and silverware before grabbing some and stabbing a waffle with his fork  “Hope you’re planning on eating?  This is a lot of food.”.
