Like life? She almost asked, but held her tongue. She learned long ago when to speak her mind and when not to.

“But how are we supposed to know what those things are?”

Blaine tapped the plastic lid of his coffee cup and bit his lip thinking over how he was supposed to answer her question without sounding too morbid or lecture-y.  

“I think you know it by feeling.  Whatever is the most important to you?  You should treat it like it could be gone without a warning. People, dreams, goals.  If it matters, REALLY matters, we should hold on and fight to keep it, them, whatever close. Does that make any sense?  Or is it the caffeine buzz making me way too philosophical for this time of day?”
